The Hayward and Cable area is filled with trail running & hiking opportunities and has close access to endless options. If you’re willing to be adventurous and travel, the options within a 2 hour drive add to your long list!
Much of the Hayward and Cable area is surrounded by 1,000’s of acres of Bayfield, Sawyer, and Washburn County Land. County land is open to the public, which means that you can just head out into the woods and “bushwhack,” follow some logging roads, or just weave your way through an open patch of woods.

TRAIL RUNNING ROUTES & IDEAS
This is a list of routes that I’ve curated myself. You won’t necessarily find these recommendations and options put together in any other place. Do not use the pace as an accurate indication of the nature or difficulty of a specific trail – I stop to note things, take pictures, etc.
The distances likely will not be exact either due to tree cover, twists and turns, and different gps units. This list is in no particular order in terms of enjoyment or difficulty. You are using this list for information at your own risk.
