LENGTH: 5 miles (your gps may vary)

DESCRIPTION: This run is a good option if you’re looking for an easy cruising option close to town. This 5 mile loop includes xc ski trail, as well as the mountain bike trails that wind through the property. The singletrack mountain bike trails are considered “flow” trails and are wide and smooth. They are winding in spots, which isn’t exactly a perfect running trail, but the sections on this run are worth the time.

NAVIGATION LEVEL (1 easy, 10 hard): 1. There are signs at most of the intersections. If there is ever a question, stay on the mowed xc ski trail or mountain bike trail.

PHYSICAL/TECHNICAL LEVEL (1 beginner, 10 expert): 1. This is a non-technical trail that is mostly flat.

LOCATION: This Hospital Trail trailhead is located about 1.5 miles north of Hayward on Hospital Road. There are two trailheads – this one that is noted and one off of Hwy 77/27 in the Hospital/Clinic parking lot here.

NOTES: There is also a snowshoe loop that starts out of this parking lot. It is mowed over a lot of it, is marked with various items, and is worn in in many areas. I would advise against the snowshoe loop in May and June – the number of ticks in stretches is off the charts.
